Daily Meditation — 5 Minutes

Favorite habit - MyHabits.info

Meditation is the only known intervention that measurably shrinks the amygdala (stress and fear centre) and thickens the prefrontal cortex (rational regulation) simultaneously.

You do not need experience, silence, or a special position.

The simplest possible start:

  1. Sit or lie comfortably. Close your eyes.
  2. Focus only on the sensation of your breath — the air entering, your chest rising, the exhale.
  3. When a thought appears (it will), simply notice it without judgment and return to the breath.
  4. Repeat for 5 minutes.

The "returning to breath" moment IS the practice. You're not failing when your mind wanders — you're training when you notice and return.

After 8 weeks of daily practice:

  • Amygdala grey matter density measurably decreases
  • Cortisol levels drop on average
  • Sleep quality and emotional regulation improve
