Think about your goal

the goal must be as specific as possible.
be S.M.A.R.T., Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time bound.

instead of "I want to be rich" set "I want to make $150000 a year" or "I want to save $500,000 by January 2024"

Ask yourself why you need to achieve this goal?

You cannot achieve a goal as a condition of your happiness.
“Once I reach my goal, then I’ll be happy.” The problem with a goals-first mentality is that you’re continually putting happiness off until the next milestone.
If you want better results, then focus on your system. Enjoy the fact that you are improving day by day.
tips:
I must improve my diet by stopping all junk food on weekdays.
I want to lose 6 pounds a month so that I'm 160 pounds at the end of the year
I must completely clear all of my debts in the next 4 years.
I must read x books per year every year.
I must invest x dollars per year
I must people to view me as an honest and sincere person
I must not be the cause of stress in other people's lives

Why
Build your why

“If the why is powerful, the how is easy.” -Jim Rohn

think about why you need to achieve your goal.

if you want more money.. why you want more money?

Let’s start by asking ourselves: “What is most important to me in my life?” Is it being successful, is it being happy, is it having a phenomenal relationship?

Write your answer and then ask yourself “Why is __(your answer)___ important to me.”

For example, you may have said, “The most important thing to me is being successful in my career.” Then the next question would be “Why is it important to me to have a successful career?”

You may possible answer that as, “Because I want to provide the best life I can to my family.”

Your next question would then be “Why is it important to me that you provide the best life for your family?”

Then keep asking until you have answered it at least five-seven times.

Through this technique, many people have come to their reason, why they must achieve the goal. This WHY will help you maintain the enthusiasm, passion and motivation to pursue your goal. Keep it always in mind!

if you've figured it out, write your why in your dashboard. You can also create a new habit, that will remind you think about your whys and reinforce them

Identity
Who do you have to become to reach your goal?

Your habits are how you embody your identity. When you make your bed each day, you embody the identity of an organized person. When you write each day, you embody the identity of a creative person. When you train each day, you embody the identity of an athletic person.
Imagine two people resisting a cigarette. When offered a smoke, the first person says, “No thanks. I’m trying to quit.” It sounds like a reasonable response, but this person still believes they are a smoker who is trying to be something else. They are hoping their behavior will change while carrying around the same beliefs.
The second person declines by saying, “No thanks. I’m not a smoker.” It’s a small difference, but this statement signals a shift in identity. Smoking was part of their former life, not their current one. They no longer identify as someone who smokes.

True behavior change is identity change. You might start a habit because of motivation, but the only reason you’ll stick with one is that it becomes part of your identity. Anyone can convince themselves to visit the gym or eat healthy once or twice, but if you don’t shift the belief behind the behavior, then it is hard to stick with long-term changes. Improvements are only temporary until they become part of who you are.

The goal is not to read a book, the goal is to become a reader. The goal is not to run a marathon, the goal is to become a runner. The goal is not to learn an instrument, the goal is to become a musician.

Reevaluate your goals and think about who you need to become, what qualities you need to acquire.

Here are a few ways you can redesign your environment and make the cues for your preferred habits more obvious:

  • If you want to remember to take your medication each night, put your pill bottle directly next to the faucet on the bathroom counter.
  • If you want to practice guitar more frequently, place your guitar stand in the middle of the living room.
  • If you want to remember to send more thank-you notes, keep a stack of stationery on your desk.
  • If you want to drink more water, fill up a few water bottles each morning and place them in common locations around the house.

By sprinkling triggers throughout your surroundings, you increase the odds that you’ll think about your habit throughout the day. Make sure the best choice is the most obvious one. Making a better decision is easy and natural when the cues for good habits are right in front of you.

Environment design is powerful not only because it influences how we engage with the world but also because we rarely do it. Most people live in a world others have created for them. But you can alter the spaces where you live and work to increase your exposure to positive cues and reduce your exposure to negative ones. Environment design allows you to take back control and become the architect of your life. Be the designer of your world and not merely the consumer of it.

Habit is future
People do not decide their future, we decide our habits, and our habits decide our future! It is often said that we cannot control our destiny and that our future is largely out of our hands. However, this is not necessarily the case! We have the power to decide our own future by deciding our habits. Habits are the small actionable steps that we take every day that can have a significant impact on our lives. By forming good habits and avoiding bad habits, we can shape our future in a positive way. So, rather than waiting for our future to be decided for us, let us take control and decide our habits, so that we can decide our own future.
